- Revision control
- Knowing which version of a drawing or document is current and which have been superseded. In construction it is the control that prevents the most expensive rework.
- Superseded drawing
- A drawing revision replaced by a later one. Building to a superseded drawing is among the most common and most expensive documentation failures.
- Bank guarantee
- A security instrument issued to a client, typically for performance or a mobilisation advance, carrying an expiry date that requires active tracking.
- Approval document
- Correspondence recording a submission and the authority or consultant response to it. Its value is entirely in being retrievable years later.
- Document verification
- A code on an issued document allowing a recipient to confirm it originated from you, rather than relying on a forwarded file.
